Chakra…Chaka Khan…Huh?

“Within each of us is a hidden store of energy.
Energy we can release to compete in the marathon of life.
Within each of us is a hidden store of courage.
Courage to give us the strength to face any challenge.
Within each of us is a hidden store of determination.
Determination to keep us in the race when all seems lost. ~Roger Dawson

If you have done any reading or research at all in the field of eergy medicine, you have at one point come across the term “chakra.”  What is a chakra?  The best way to describe a chakra is an energy center.  No, this is not woo-woo like you may be thinking…chakras have been proven to exist scientifically through a special form of photography and simply through life experiences and healings of individuals throughout the globe (including myself).  Our entire beings are made of energy.  Our cells are bundles of energy; we communicate because we exchange energy with another person (why do you think it feels the way you do when you kiss somebody?  You are exchanging energy with that person)…energy drives everything we do.  Doesn’t it make sense that we would have “energy centers” in our body, kind of like power plants, to direct, clean and balance the energy coming in and out of us on a daily basis?

We have 7 main chakras.  Each one of them has a theme, so to speak…a spiritual life lesson that surrounds it and the amount of energy flowing through it dictates how well we are doing in that specific area of our development.  Chakras are one of the main centers where we can heal ourselves if we understand how they work and know how to keep them balanced.

10 years ago I suffered from severe ulcerative colitis to the point where it almost took my life.  At the time, I was not as aware of energy medicine as I am today but what I did learn is that the exact area where I was having physical issues pointed to the exact area emotionally and mentally that was the cause of my physical issue (the theme of that chakra).

Lately I have been coming across many people who are going through some major things in their lives…emotionally, mentally and physically.  All of it is related to energies moving through that are causing you (or in other words, asking you to) look at certain parts of your life.  See if any of the areas below are synchronistic with what you may be experiencing lately.  (I am only going to cover the lower 3 chakras here today and the rest this week…FYI):

  1. Root Chakra – located at the base of your spine and has a theme of “all is one.”  It connects you to the very essence of life on Earth; it grounds you, and deals with your feelings of your right to exist and how you feel you fit in your “tribe.”  If this chakra is off balance you may experience issues with your spine, legs, bones, feet, blood, rectum, or immune system.  You may be dealing with issues with family, safety and security, providing for yourself or law and order.
  2. Sacral Chakra – located below your naval area and has a theme of “honoring one another.”  This chakra deals with your relationships with all people and things in your life (how you relate to money, work, other people, etc.) and any issues with money, sex, ethics, power and control.  If this chakra is off balance you may experience issue with your sexual organs, large intestine, lower vertebrae, pelvis, appendix, bladder or hip area as well as dealing with feelings of shame, dependency and a lack of personal boundaries with others.
  3. Solar Plexus Chakra — located at your solar plexus area above your naval and has a theme of “honoring self.”  This chakra deals with your maturation process in understanding yourself, your self-esteem, self-respect and strength of character.  If this chakra is off balance you may experience issues with your abdomen, stomach, upper intestines, liver, gallbladder, kidney, pancreas, adrenal glands, spleen, middle spine, lower esophagus and dealing with issues around caring for yourself, trust, fear and intimidation.

If any of these areas of concern sounded familiar, have no fear, Chris is here!  (I’ve always wanted to say that!)

Take some time today to focus on one of these areas that rang most true for you.  Attached here are three sheets, one for each chakra that will help you understand what you can do to balance those areas…things such as colors to wear or surround yourself with (colors are all of a certain vibration), scents to surround yourself with, specific music to play, etc.  Click on the following to view the information:  First Chakra (Root), Second Chakra (Sacral), Third Chakra (Solar Plexus).  All simple things to get you started.

Stay tuned for the next couple of days and we will dive deeper into how you can heal what is going on for you.  We all have a lot going on in our lives.  Let’s stick together, ok?  😉

Chhhhhhhaka Khan, Chaka Khan…LOL!

MOVE!!!

“To create the new, first you must imagine it, then you embrace it, and finally love it until the invisible becomes true for you.”
~Rev. Angela Peregoff

I thought the title for my blog today was fitting because it bears two meanings; one, I will be starting the 40 hour trek to my new home in Scottsdale, AZ on Wednesday of this week, moving my whole life as I know it 3000 miles away, and two, this whole weeks focus is on moving…moving your dreams into action, moving and taking care of your body and aligning your soul vision with movement.

We all have a secret dream or vision of what we would like our lives to look like.  Whether it is to live in a certain place, to have a certain career or to be a certain type of person, it is a vision nonetheless.  Many times our vision remains just that…a vision.  We get caught up in the fears and the “what if’s” and never take the steps to allow our vision to manifest.  Our ability to be able to make our vision a reality is part of our self-responsibility.  The whole purpose of our life on Earth is to learn our lessons through life experiences.  If we limit those experiences based on what others think or what our ego considers “safe,” we do ourselves a major injustice.  We allow our vision to die at the hands of the illusion of fear.

Two helpful tools to get you started on turning your vision into a reality is one, to focus 2-3 times a day on the middle of your forehead.  Smack dab in the center of your forehead sits your third eye chakra.  A chakra is an energy center (we have several of them throughout our body but 7 main ones) that allows or blocks energies from entering your psyche and soul body.  Each chakra has a theme and this theme is allowed to manifest in your life if you keep that energy center free and clear of clutter – i.e., negative thoughts and fears.  The third eye chakra has a theme of “seek only truth.”  It is your chakra of “sight “and allows you to see the deeper and spiritual truths about yourself and the world around you.  Visualize a stream of white light from the heavens surrounding your forehead 2-3 times per day.  White light is very powerful and cleanses any area where it is sent.

Secondly, the crystal Iolite is very powerful in helping you move into action toward your vision.  Iolite is the vision stone and has the power to bring joy into your life and clear away any obstacles that are getting in the way of you achieving your ultimate vision.  You can buy crystals at any new age shops where they sell incense and other spiritual items as well as on line.  Sleep with this crystal under your pillow this week and allow your sleeping dreams to assist you with action steps on how to turn your vision into a reality.

There is nothing blocking you from realizing your greatest vision other than yourself.  Once you start to take action, you soon realize that what you feared is not even a reality…it only exists in your mind.

Be not afraid

“Be not afraid of life.  Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create that fact.  If you want a quality life, act as if you already have it.” ~William James

I think you would all agree that we are in an age of information overload.  We can get whatever information we want in an instant.  We Google, read books, go to seminars, take on-line courses…you name it, we can get the information.  We definitely are not knowledge-lacking!  Knowledge is great; don’t get me wrong.  But knowledge is not where the power lies – you must APPLY your knowledge in order to honor its power.  Applying our knowledge or the guidance we receive is sometimes not as easy as it may seem.  We are taught and dictated by our logic, our psyche and our sight.  We think what we see must be the truth and if we act and do not get the results we expected the action must have been wrong.

The ability to generate action in your life comes from the solar plexus area of your physical body – that area right around your belly button.  What lies here is an energy center called a chakra (we have 7 main ones to make it simple).  A chakra is an energy center that dictates your physical, emotional, spiritual and mental health.  Each chakra focuses and helps with different areas of life.  Your “gut,” or solar plexus, aids in taking action.  This is the area where how you feel about yourself, your courage; your personal honor and your maturation in understanding yourself grow OR become jammed.  If you have ever experienced any issues such as colon or stomach problems, indigestion, liver, kidney or gallbladder issues; this energy center was more than likely blocked in learning one of those important lessons about self.

Today, take action around a goal you have even if it is doing something small.  Face the fear, trust your gut and where it is guiding you and do it IN SPITE OF THE FEAR!  That is courage!  Do not pay attention to the result but pay attention to the action and how you feel before and after you take the action.  If it feels right, go for it!  Many things feel right when we do them, then the result ends up being something that wasn’t what we expected or may have hurt us in some way, so then we make the assumption that the action was wrong and we are never going to follow our gut again.  Up goes the wall of protection and next time we do it logically and leave our heart and gut aside…even though down deep we know what we are really doing…giving into the fear.

Never doubt that every single outcome you receive is for your highest good.  Everything that happens, no matter if you define it as good or bad, makes us into who we are today and who we will be in the future.

“A true follower of Jesus knows that God has many ways of bringing us home and never doubts the outcome.”  (So why should you…???)
